Miami-specific notes

Bilingual Miami. Miami-Dade is roughly 70% Hispanic or Latino (per U.S. Census ACS data), and our clinical pathway is built with that reality in mind. While our intake forms are currently in English, our providers commonly treat patients who prefer Spanish for follow-up conversations at the pharmacy counter. CVS, Walgreens, Publix, and Navarro locations across Miami-Dade staff bilingual pharmacists at most branches — Hialeah, Little Havana, Westchester, Kendall, and Doral especially. Medication names are effectively universal, so even English-only prescriptions translate cleanly at pickup.

Navarro and Miami's pharmacy history. Navarro Discount Pharmacy was founded in Miami in 1961 by Cuban refugees and became the city's defining community pharmacy chain before CVS acquired it in 2014. CVS has preserved the Navarro brand at many Miami-Dade locations because of its local recognition. We can route your e-prescription to any Navarro location just as easily as a CVS, Walgreens, or Publix — the backend is the same CVS Health pharmacy network, but the customer experience at Navarro locations remains distinctly Miami.

Miami Beach & the causeways. If you live on Miami Beach, you don't need to cross the MacArthur, Venetian, or Julia Tuttle causeway to pick up medication — Miami Beach has its own Publix on Dade Blvd, CVS locations on Alton Road and Lincoln Road, and Walgreens nearby. Our e-prescription routes to whichever pharmacy you pick, so choose whatever's closest and avoid bridge traffic entirely.

Jackson Health System and safety-net care. Jackson Memorial Hospital is Miami-Dade's public safety-net hospital and one of the largest teaching hospitals in the U.S. For our telehealth scope (uncomplicated UTI, BV, yeast, ED, hair loss, bridge refills), Jackson's emergency department is the wrong venue — long waits, higher costs, and cases that would be triaged low-acuity. But Jackson is exactly the right destination for what we explicitly don't treat: fever with UTI symptoms, suspected kidney infection, pregnancy complications, and anything requiring imaging or IV medications. We'll refer you there without charge if your intake reveals red flags.

Climate and common conditions. Miami's year-round warm humidity is associated with higher rates of yeast infections and skin conditions compared to drier climates. Staying in wet swimwear — a common reality given Miami's beach culture and pool access — is a recognized yeast infection trigger. Our yeast intake is built for exactly this scenario; $45, same-day fluconazole (single-dose oral) or topical antifungal to any pharmacy you pick.

When to see someone in person in Miami

Our scope is uncomplicated cases in otherwise healthy adults. Anything beyond that is better handled in person. Miami-Dade options for acute care and specialist referral:

For sexual health screening (not our scope), Miami-Dade County's STD clinic network and the CDC's GetTested locator are low-cost options.

Miami telehealth FAQ

Does Bidwell Health offer Spanish-language telehealth in Miami?

Our clinical intake forms are currently in English, but Miami's chain pharmacies (CVS, Walgreens, Publix, Navarro) nearly all have Spanish-speaking pharmacy staff who can review prescription instructions at pickup. We're adding a Spanish-language intake in Q3 2026. Medication names are universally recognized, so even English-only prescriptions translate cleanly at the counter.

Can I use Bidwell Health at Navarro Discount Pharmacy in Miami?

Yes. Navarro (CVS Health-owned since 2014 but still operating under the Navarro brand at many Miami-Dade locations) is fully e-prescribe-enabled. We can route your prescription to any Navarro location in Hialeah, Little Havana, Coral Gables, or elsewhere.

I live on Miami Beach — does the causeway affect pharmacy pickup?

No — just pick a pharmacy on the Beach side. Miami Beach has its own Publix (1045 Dade Blvd), CVS on Alton Road and Lincoln Road, and Walgreens at 1545 Alton Rd. No causeway crossing required.

Can I use Bidwell Health at Jackson Memorial's pharmacy?

Jackson Health System's retail pharmacies accept outside prescriptions, but most Miami-Dade patients find it easier to fill at a chain pharmacy. Jackson's retail pharmacy is primarily set up for discharged hospital patients and Jackson-clinic patients.

What if I'm visiting Miami from out of state?

We can prescribe to anyone physically located in a state where our providers are licensed at the time of the visit. Florida is one of our 12 licensed states. If you're visiting Miami from New York, California, or another state where we're licensed, we can treat you in Miami and send the prescription to a Miami-Dade pharmacy.

Does Miami's climate make UTIs or yeast infections more common?

Miami's sub-tropical climate is associated with higher rates of vulvovaginal yeast infections versus drier climates. Time spent in wet swimwear is a commonly overlooked trigger. For symptomatic treatment, our yeast and BV visits are $45 flat with same-day Rx.
