Who can request a bridge refill?
This service is for adults 18 and older who are physically in a supported state during the visit and already take a stable, non-controlled medication.
- To request this visit, you must confirm the same dose for at least 6 months, no dose change in the last 3 months and no requested increase or decrease.
- You feel stable, with no new concerning symptoms, recent ER visit, hospitalization or significant side effects.
- Required medication-monitoring labs are within the last 12 months. The clinician may need more recent information for your situation.
- You need a temporary bridge while arranging ongoing care, rather than a new diagnosis or long-term medication management.
New symptoms or an overdue thyroid reassessment are reasons to reconnect with your usual clinician rather than assume that the old dose remains appropriate.

Have your thyroid prescription and recent lab history ready

Levothyroxine and brand-name thyroid prescriptions
Levothyroxine is a thyroid hormone replacement used for hypothyroidism. Synthroid is one brand name. Use the exact product and strength printed on your label when requesting a refill; the clinician must assess your existing treatment, not choose a new dose from a list.

When to get care instead of requesting a bridge refill
This service is not appropriate for new thyroid symptoms, pregnancy, recent dose changes, missing lab history when needed, heart palpitations, severe fatigue, or symptoms that require full primary-care or endocrinology evaluation. Those situations need urgent care, primary care, or specialist evaluation rather than a bridge refill.
For chest pain, severe difficulty breathing or another medical emergency, call 911. Do not wait for an online refill review.
Thyroid medication refill questions
Is it dangerous to stop thyroid medicine suddenly?
Levothyroxine controls hypothyroidism but does not cure it, so feeling well is not a reason to stop treatment. Do not stop or change your prescribed dose without clinical advice. If you run out or miss doses, ask your prescriber or pharmacist what to do and tell them how long the interruption has been. A single missed dose does not automatically mean an emergency; new or severe symptoms need appropriate assessment.
Can a pharmacist give me an emergency supply?
Sometimes. A pharmacist may be able to provide a limited emergency supply when your prescriber cannot be reached, depending on state law, the medication and the pharmacist's assessment. An eligible adult on stable, established treatment may be assessed through Bidwell's message-based visit without a scheduled video or office appointment. A licensed clinician still reviews the request. This is not a way to obtain thyroid medication without a prescription or start treatment for a new thyroid problem.
Do I need thyroid bloodwork for an online refill?
This bridge-refill service requires current monitoring: for medication that needs labs, the most recent labs must be within the last 12 months. Have your thyroid monitoring history available. The clinician decides whether it is sufficient; more recent testing or an in-person evaluation may be needed.
Can I change my thyroid dose or switch products?
This service is for short-term continuation of a stable prescription. A new dose, a new diagnosis or a treatment change needs evaluation by your usual clinician or an appropriate in-person service. Do not select a different strength because you are running low.

How much medication can be prescribed?
A one-time bridge may cover up to 90 days when clinically appropriate, either as 90 days with no refills or 30 days with two refills. The clinician makes the final decision. This does not replace ongoing care or guarantee the requested amount.
What if online care is not appropriate?
You receive a full refund when a clinician determines that your case cannot be safely or appropriately treated through Bidwell Health, including when we refer you to in person care. The fee pays for an assessment, not a guaranteed prescription. A completed assessment that finds no prescription indicated is not automatically refundable.
