Who can request a bridge refill?
This service is for adults 18 and older who are physically in a supported state during the visit and already take a stable, non-controlled medication.
- To request this visit, you must confirm the same dose for at least 6 months, no dose change in the last 3 months and no requested increase or decrease.
- You feel stable, with no new concerning symptoms, recent ER visit, hospitalization or significant side effects.
- Required medication-monitoring labs are within the last 12 months. The clinician may need more recent information for your situation.
- You need a temporary bridge while arranging ongoing care, rather than a new diagnosis or long-term medication management.
A delay in a routine appointment is different from a change in your mental health. Tell the clinician about both so the care recommendation fits your current situation.

Prepare your current prescription and treatment history
- A readable photo of your medication label with your name, drug, strength and prescriber. Include the release form, such as SR or XL, when it appears on the label.
- How long you have taken this dose, why it was prescribed, when you last took it and when you will run out. Report any gap in treatment rather than assuming you should restart the same way.
- Any recent mood changes, side effects, medication adjustments, ER visits or hospitalizations. These details help determine whether a bridge visit is appropriate.
- Your other medicines, supplements, allergies and preferred pharmacy. Have your usual follow-up plan available, including when you can reconnect with your prescriber.

When to get care instead of requesting a bridge refill
This service is not appropriate for suicidal thoughts, thoughts of self-harm, mania symptoms, severe mood changes, recent hospitalization, new or worsening side effects, brand-new medication starts, controlled substances, or symptoms requiring urgent or emergency care.
If you are in immediate danger or may act on thoughts of harming yourself, seek emergency help now. Do not wait for a routine refill review. New suicidal thoughts, mania symptoms or severe mood changes need urgent assessment.
Antidepressant refill questions
Is it dangerous to stop an antidepressant suddenly?
Stopping suddenly can cause withdrawal symptoms, such as dizziness, nausea, sleep problems or mood changes. Contact your prescriber or pharmacist before you run out, or promptly if you have missed doses. If treatment needs to stop, a clinician can advise whether a gradual reduction is needed. Do not use this page to plan a taper or restart. Tell the reviewing clinician about the interruption; a routine refill may not be appropriate.
Can a pharmacist give me an emergency supply?
Sometimes. A pharmacist may be able to provide a limited emergency supply when your prescriber cannot be reached, depending on state law, the medication and the pharmacist's assessment. Start with the pharmacy that last filled your prescription and have the label available. An emergency supply is not guaranteed, and the permitted amount varies. Ask what is possible before relying on this option.
Can urgent care refill my prescription?
An urgent care or walk-in clinic may be able to assess a refill request, especially when you need an examination or cannot reach your usual prescriber. Call first to ask whether the clinic handles your medication, what records to bring and how it charges for the visit or testing. Its clinician decides whether to prescribe. Urgent care does not replace emergency care for severe symptoms.
Can I refill an antidepressant without seeing a psychiatrist in person?
Some stable existing prescriptions may be assessed through Bidwell's message-based bridge visit, with no scheduled video visit. A licensed clinician still reviews your history and decides whether continuation is safe. This is not a replacement for psychiatric evaluation, therapy or ongoing medication management.
What if I already missed doses or stopped taking it?
Tell the clinician the exact medicine, dose, last dose taken and any symptoms. Whether and how to restart can depend on the medicine and the length of the interruption. Contact your prescriber or pharmacist for individualized advice; a refill cannot be assumed appropriate after a gap.
Can I start a new antidepressant or change my dose?
No. This bridge service is for established, stable treatment. New medication starts, dose changes, worsening mood, significant side effects and recent hospitalization need a different level of evaluation. Controlled substances are not prescribed.
How much does an online antidepressant refill visit cost?

How quickly is the refill reviewed, including on weekends?
Visits are reviewed 7 days a week, including weekends; timing varies. Additional information may be needed before a decision. Pharmacy hours, stock and processing also affect when an approved prescription is ready. Do not rely on this service for urgent or emergency needs.
How much medication can be prescribed?
A one-time bridge may cover up to 90 days when clinically appropriate, either as 90 days with no refills or 30 days with two refills. The clinician makes the final decision. This does not replace ongoing care or guarantee the requested amount.
What if online care is not appropriate?
You receive a full refund when a clinician determines that your case cannot be safely or appropriately treated through Bidwell Health, including when we refer you to in person care. The fee pays for an assessment, not a guaranteed prescription. A completed assessment that finds no prescription indicated is not automatically refundable.
