When online care may fit
Adult men with the classic male pattern (gradual thinning at the temples, the crown, or both) who can answer the safety questions and upload the two photos. The regimens offered are finasteride 1 mg daily (FDA approved and first line), finasteride with oral minoxidil 2.5 mg, dutasteride 0.5 mg with or without oral minoxidil, and oral minoxidil alone; oral minoxidil and dutasteride are off-label for hair loss and the intake says so. A licensed clinician reviews the photos and answers before any prescription is sent.
When to seek in-person or urgent care
Women with hair loss: Bidwell prescribes finasteride and dutasteride for male pattern hair loss only and refers women to dermatology or primary care for the lab workup that usually comes first. Anyone with sudden patchy loss, scalp pain, infection, scarring, or hair loss with other symptoms such as weight change or fatigue needs an in-person examination, because those are not pattern hair loss.
