How to get finasteride online

What is finasteride? Finasteride (brand: Propecia at 1 mg; Proscar at 5 mg) is a 5-alpha reductase inhibitor that lowers scalp DHT. It's FDA-approved for male pattern hair loss at 1 mg daily.

Finasteride 1mg is the most studied, FDA-approved oral treatment for male pattern hair loss. It's the foundation of most evidence-based regimens — usually the first medication we prescribe at Bidwell Health.

What finasteride does

Finasteride inhibits the enzyme 5-alpha reductase, which converts testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT). DHT is the hormone driving miniaturization of hair follicles in genetically susceptible men. Lower DHT means follicles stay in the growth phase longer, shed less, and — over 6 to 12 months — often produce thicker, longer hairs.

It's the backbone of almost every serious hair-loss regimen because the evidence is strong and the mechanism is well understood. Most men see shedding stabilize before they see regrowth.

Who finasteride is a good fit for

Dosing

The standard dose for hair loss is 1 mg orally once daily. It can be taken with or without food, at any time of day. Consistency matters — a missed dose here and there is fine, but chronic inconsistency will blunt results. Most men stay on the same dose long-term.

Side effects — the honest version

In clinical trials, roughly 1–2% of men reported sexual side effects (decreased libido, erectile or ejaculatory changes). Most cases resolved on stopping. Mood changes have been reported in post-marketing surveillance, and a small recent signal exists in the literature. Gynecomastia (breast tenderness or enlargement) is rare.

Post-finasteride syndrome — persistent symptoms after discontinuation — is controversial in the medical literature but is real for some men. We counsel openly about it and ask you to report any persistent symptoms immediately.

When we'll decline and refer you

Clinical note. Post-finasteride syndrome is rare but real. If you notice persistent mood changes, sexual symptoms, or cognitive changes that don't resolve on stopping the medication, tell a provider immediately. We'd rather you report and we investigate than tough it out.
