I am an adult male and I understand this treatment. For most men, these medications are well-tolerated. Finasteride/dutasteride can cause sexual side effects (decreased libido, erectile dysfunction, ejaculation changes) that usually improve after stopping, though some men have reported symptoms persisting after discontinuation. Rarely, these medications have been associated with mood changes, including suicidal thoughts, which may not resolve immediately after stopping. Oral minoxidil can cause edema, palpitations, or lightheadedness. Dutasteride and oral minoxidil are prescribed off-label for hair loss. I understand I can decline or stop this treatment at any time, and I'll contact my provider or go to the nearest ER if I notice mood changes, thoughts of self-harm, or other concerning symptoms, whether or not I'm still taking the medication.
